LAUNCHING FEB 20 – 22

Victorian shelters, united by one mission.

Will you answer the call?

Across Victoria, animal shelters are coming together for one shared purpose: to move cats and kittens out of shelters and into homes, before a busy and extended kitten season begins.

Mission Adoptable is a three-day, state-wide adoption weekend focused on immediate action. From Friday 20 to Sunday 22 February 2026, participating metropolitan and regional shelters will reduce adoption fees for cats and kittens to $50, while continuing their usual adoption processes.

FAQ's

How do you know these cats and kittens will go to good homes?

Adoption is based on suitability. Every adoption includes time to meet the cat or kitten, and an conversation about their needs. A low adoption fee does not mean a low standard. We take care to place animals where they are most likely to thrive.

No. Adoption fees are explained upfront. Some cats or kittens may need ongoing medication or specific management at home, depending on their individual needs. If that applies, this will be discussed before adoption so you can make an informed decision. Some shelters may also ask adopters to maintain food continuity or continue parasite prevention products.

It starts with a conversation and meeting the cat or kitten. From there, the process can look a little different depending on the animal and the shelter. Most cats are simply looking for a family willing to give them time and make it work. Our team will guide you through what’s needed so everyone has the best chance of settling in well.

Some shelters may have specific requirements based on the individual cat and specific needs, or local council arrangements. Any requirements will be explained clearly before adoption.

The best place to start is the website of the shelter you’re interested in, as available cats and kittens are listed there. You’re also welcome to call the team or drop in to say hello. Sometimes kittens move through the shelter quickly and are adopted before they even make it onto the website, so visiting in person can make all the difference.

If an adoption isn’t the right fit, please contact the shelter you adopted from as soon as possible and follow their advice.

Yes. Fostering, donating, or sharing profiles all help cats and kittens move closer to home.
